Writing is a way to make me aware. Living mindfully is both my journey and my destination.
I've journaled faithfully since I was 17, and I can now look back and see interesting patterns and divine guidance. The major transitions in my life tended to come with a twist.
- In the 1990s, there were twists in the way I met and married Roger (involving comedy improv and a DiamondVision scoreboard)
- In 2001, there were twists in the way I became mom to Tessa (involving a dying man’s vision and a batch of cookie dough during labor)
- In 2003 there were twists in how I became mom to Reed (involving a battle and a blizzard).
Besides my quest to live mindfully, I write here about open adoption, adoptive parenting, spirituality, and 1970s trivia. I spoke at Blogher08 about Adoption/Loss/Infertility (ALI) issues and I am the Examiner for Open Adoption. I founded ColoBloggers for Coloradoans in the ALI community, and I am a Mile High Mama Blogger.
I am passionate about de-freakifying open adoption for people considering this path to parenthood. Tessa’s firstmom and I teach speak at adoption agencies on how (and why) to create successful open adoptions. Our adoption stories are told at Drama 2B Mama.
Crystal and I are also available in person or by phone for open adoption consulting and coaching.
If you are a media professional and wish to speak with me about open adoption or about any of the topics on my blogs, please email me. I would be happy to help you with your story.

Hello, I was referred to your blog. I am trying to figure out how to put the retweet part at the end of my posts.
I'm so glad I found your blog through ICLW. We're in the midst of our IF struggle and open adoption is something that have crossed my mind several times. We're both americans currently living in England and I wonder how that would work...
Hopefully we'll get a chance to talk :-) Have a lovely day!
